My heart is like a freight train,
Putting on hard miles and carrying a load.
My heart is like a freight train,
And this railroad is the only home that it knows.

Verse 1:
Are you just another station, am I just another train?
At your gates I unload all my freight,
And I wait for you to load me again.
But tonight will find me moving,
Rolling down that seaboard line
Loaded down and bound for glory,
Burning diesel through the night.

Verse 2:
I guess we should have seen it coming,
But were all bound to crash sometime,
Because when steel meets steel, there ain’t no pain feel
Just get back on track and try to leave that wreck behind.
No one chose the path they travel,
You just choose the best you find,
And if it takes a train to carry all my pain,
Well it takes an even bigger train to cry.

Verse 3:
I could carry you the distance,
If you could just learn to hold on,
But when steel meets steel there ain’t no pain to feel,
Just the cold hard fact of forgetting what is gone.
Now I’m iron and combustion,
The sharp taste of cocaine keeps my engineer on time.
Loaded down and bound for glory,
Lord knows I’m coming but I won’t get there tonight.
